Q: How do i remove a fuel pressure regulator from a 1985 ford ranger?
Hi i want to remove a fuel pressure regulator from my 1985 ford ranger but i don’t know where its at and what tools i would need to remove the fuel pressure regulator if i were to find it.
Can you please help me THANKS!!!
A: That should be a electric fuel pump. Located under the drivers door inside the frame, unbolt and remove 2 nylon yoke clips to disconnect the fuel line and unplug electrical plug connections. You will need a small socket and rachet set plus a screw driver, watch out for gas draining when removing the fuel lines….
Q: How should i go about changing the interior color of a 1994 ford ranger?
I am being given a 1994 ford ranger from a family friend. I would like the interior to be completely black. How should i do this?
A: A simple and affordable way is to use Duplicolor Vinyl or Fabric coating. Did it to the seats in my Honda and it came out pretty nice.
It is just like spray painting essentially, remove what ever you want to coat, give it a very thorough cleaning and vacuuming, and spray until you get the depth of color you want.

Q: Ford Ranger: How do I reset the computer for the check engine light?
I recently replaced my EGR valve in my ‘95 Ford Ranger and yet the check engine light still comes on. I unhooked the battery cables for 15 minutes which caused the light to go off, but it came back on after about an hour of driving. What else is there to do?
A: Once again I see you have gotten ripped off too.
I have NEVER—-EVER seen an E.G.R. go bad. I have had a hundred computers tell me it was bad when in fact it was not. Each time I have come across that it has ended up being clogged passages inside of the intake manifold. This causes erratic readings showing a bad E.G.R. I am not saying yours was not faulty but I would check there first, long before I would waste money on an E.G.R.

A: Well, since you’ve already installed the EGR valve you’ve puchased from Auto Zone, the option of returning the part for a refund is no longer viable. But, I would bet the farm your EGR valve WASN’T the problem. More likely it was the DPFE sensor that needed replaced, NOT the EGR valve. This sensor is either an aluminum bodied rectangular shaped sensor with two rubber hoses and a three wire electrical connector connected to it, or a black pastic sensor if it has already been replaced before. This is a VERY commonly failing part on ALL Ford products. You would need to purchase it from the Ford dealer parts department. Just ask for part number F77Z-9J460-AB at the counter to get the part you need. Hope this helps
Q: Ford Ranger?
Woundering why when I turn on my ac when I first start my truck it makes this clunking sound then after about 3 sec it stops it only does this once and awhile. Also Ive had this oil leak sence I bought the truck back in July 2006 they’ve replaced the oil pan 3 times and the oil pan gaskets. Each time they say they do a black light test and see no leaks after they fix it. But after a month or so it leaks again what can I do I keep takeing it to a Ford dealer but I only have a Power Train Warrenty. The first time I had to pay but the last 2 times I havent had to pay so thats good but I still have to take out time out of my day to go and sit there. Is there anything else it could be?
A: Are they using the dye and black light before they replace the oil pan? To verify that is where the leak is coming from? Oil leaks can be hard to find exactly where they are coming from, and I have a hard time believing that it is leaking from the same place if they keep fixing it. Did they tell you why it keeps leaking from the same place after they fix it? I mean, how do they explain to you that it’s the same place over and over, after they have fixed it?
It just doesn’t really make sense… At least you haven’t had to pay after the first time, but still, I would ask a little more about that.
It could be coming from many different places, they are sometimes really hard to find, especially when they all leak down to the same area. They might think it’s one thing, but the leak could actually be somewhere else. They should be cleaning the area, putting the dye in and checking it for leaks before the repair…
My car makes a noise when I first turn on the ac too, I was told that’s fine. But you could always ask next time you take it in.
Q: Clunking noise on my 86 Ford Ranger that matches my speed?
I have a 1986 Ford Ranger, and when driving at slower speeds (5-30mph) I can hear a clunking that matches my speed. I was thinking it could be my u-joint going bad, but i found another site that recommended checking for play in the joint and i did and there was none, so I’m thinking that maybe it’s not the u-joint. Any ideas?
A: wheel bearing most likely if the uni joints are nice and tight in the shaft. possibly your diff going as well
Q: How Do I make my ford ranger faster?
I Have a 4cly Manual 2000 Ford Ranger. Im tired of always flooring it in the streets and all it takes for someone to pass me is to tap their gas pedal and their gone b4 i know it. Can someone guide me to were to start in makin my truck have more power?
A: start off bye adding a cold air intake and a free flow exaust and a computer chip the best way is to change ur ring and pinion gears in the rearend to like a set of 3:88 or if u want more power u can go to a 4:11
Q: How do you replace the headlight bulbs on a 2000 Ford Ranger?
I have a 2000 Ford Ranger and I was wondering how to replace the headlight bulbs. I bought some sylvania silverstar ultra bulbs and I can’t seem to replace them on my ranger. Don’t laugh.. it is supposed to be simple but I can’t figure it out. A step by step process would be helpful, if you could find step by step with galleries would be even better.
A: Go to a Food ranger dealer and get the bulbs and then go to a gas station and ask if they would replace for you. Would be cheaper for gas station to replace then dealer.
Q: How much would it cost for a clutch replacement on a 93 ford ranger?
i’m thinking of buying a 93 ford ranger for 900 (other question do u think it’s worth it). And i was wondering how much would it be for a clutch replacement?
A: Use this site:

Q: What fuse goes to the horn on a 93 ford ranger?
Does anybody have a fuse diagram for a 93 ford ranger? The fuse box under the steering wheel is not labeled and I am trying to locate the fuse to the horn. I went to a few sites but the year only goes back to 96, and the manual doesn’t have the diagram either. If anybody knows which fuse it is or can send me to a site that has the diagram that would be great.
A: Dang Fords will drive you nuts with the no ID fuse blocks. Fuse ID is in the owners manual. It is fuse #8 20amp.
Q: does a timing chain ever have to be replaced on a 1997 ford ranger?
My mechanic claims that my earlier mechanic did not need to replace my timing chain on my 1997 ford ranger 3.0 6cyl engine. The mechanic that made this statement claims my truck has something in the computer that keeps it in timing. The mechanic who made this statement has 40 years in the field. Is this true ? Whos is correct?
A: If the timing chain breaks, the computer is not going to be able to help. Everything needs replaced at some point. Things wear out.
Q: What is the fuel tank capacity of a 2000 Ford Ranger?
I have a 2000 Ford Ranger XLT. It is 4wd, SuperCab with a 3.0L V6 EFI and automatic transmission. I’ve looked everywhere but I can’t get a solid answer. Thank you.
A: 19.5 gallons is the super cab capacity

Q: What is the best kind of shocks for a Ford Ranger?
What is the best kind of shocks ( brand, model etc.) front and back for a 2002 Ford Ranger? Theres a 3inch spindle lift in front.
A: rancho,s or monroe.
Q: What sort of gas mileage do you get with your Ford Ranger?
I have a 2007 Ford Ranger 3.0 L V6 Super Cab (the one with the extra half-door and rear fold-up seats) with Automatic Transmission.
I got the truck with 3200km / 2000 miles on it.
I’ve been keeping track of my gas mileage for the past 5 months.
I’ve calculated my average as :
7.2 km/ l , or
17 mpg.
I do a mixture of highway and city driving with mostly highway driving.
According to the Ford Website, the Ranger gets 17 mpg city / 22 mpg hwy.
I do mostly hwy driving and I’m getting the city average.
My feeling is that the Ranger is a gas guzzilng little beast.
When my lease expires in 2 years I’m going Tacoma, or, what I really want, a hybrid or natural gas truck (if one becomes available).
I’m a greenie : ).
Thanks in advance for your feedback.
Thanks for all the great answers so far guys!
Wow “oldguy”!
That’s brutal mileage.
Steel is Steel though.
Shiny.
Yeagh “djkjb74″.
I know the printed numbers are from idyllic conditions.
Still 17 is low for mostly highway driving isn’t it?
Thanks for your specs “karate09″.
Hey Mikey.
21 mpg. Jealous!
My Ranger is 2WD and terrible in snow.
No weight in bed usually except for my tools.
I was Siding (although Laboring mostly. sigh. construction is so easy. why keep guys doing the donkey jobs for months when they can be doing the real work in a day. that’s got to change.) up until recently.
I’m always on Cruise Control and I drive like an alert old lady.
Yeagh, 4 cylinder would be the way to go, but the thing is even more gutless than the 3.0 V6.
I’m so going Tacoma after my lease is over.
Hey John F.
I’ll make sure my filter is checked out my next oil change.
19 in town!
22-23 highway!
That would be great!
…it’s pretty lame that I get so excited over such little numbers…
I’ve heard about the K&N Filter.
Thanks Francesco.
I’ll give it a shot.
I just watched Live Earth yesterday online.
If any of the manufacturers read this, I would like to request trucks that are hybrids and natural gas powered.
Make a good one and you got my business.
Dave.
A: I have a 2002 ranger 3.0L, Auto, Regular cab, 2WD. I have a K&N air filter which gave me a increase to 19-23. I would advise the same to you i think you will see a clear differnce.
Q: what was the last year of the ford ranger longbox?
I don’t see the choice for a longbox ranger on the ford website.
I have a 1997 model and would like to buy a newer one.
Does anyone know what the last production year of a ranger 4.0L 4×4 longbox?
I forgot to mention that I’m in Canada.
The Ford Canada website doesn’t have them listed.
And I haven’t found one ‘in the wild’ yet either.
A: they Are still Making them You just have to Look
